These three tools are not competitors; each operates at a different layer. ixirhost manages infrastructure — domain registration, DNS, SSL and corporate email. cPanel is the management panel we use on ixirhost hosting packages to run WordPress, PHP and Node.js projects on the server. Vercel is the deploy platform where we ship Next.js, React and static project code.
Publishing with cPanel
For WordPress, PHP or Node.js projects that stay on the server we get hosting from ixirhost. WordPress and PHP rely on the file manager, database and email tools. For Node.js we go to Software → Setup Node.js App, create a new application with Create Application, then configure:
- Node.js version: Match the project requirement (e.g. 18.x).
- Application mode:
Production— sets theNODE_ENVvariable automatically. - Application root: The folder where files are uploaded.
- Application URL: The domain or subpath to serve.
- Application startup file: Entry file (e.g.
server.js). - Run NPM Install: Install dependencies once
package.jsonis detected. - Environment variables: Add secrets such as database URLs and API keys.
When setup is complete the app shows as started; use Restart after code updates.
Publishing with Vercel
For Next.js projects we leave deployment to Vercel: git push to go live, automatic HTTPS, preview branches and a global CDN. The domain stays registered at ixirhost; to connect to Vercel we go to My Domains → Nameservers, remove the defaults and add ns1.vercel-dns.com and ns2.vercel-dns.com.
